Overlooking Boston
Common, Troquet serves up French fare with an inspired twist. The
atmosphere is warm and comfortable, with a fantastic view of the park
from the second story windows. The decor is simple, but attractive - the
dining room is rich with burgundy tones and black accents, the kitchen
is open but not overly intrusive, and the space is small and intimate.
The menu is very limited and seasonally inspired. Each dish tends to
have a unique and creative element to it. I began my meal with the
Grilled Prawns, ordered the Lamb Shank with Bacon as an entree, and
finished up with a Banana Chocolate Tort. Kim tried the Frisse Salad,
Roasted Organic Chicken, and the Coconut Crème Brulee for dessert.
Everything we sampled was excellent and imaginative. Troquet offers up a
unique and extensive wine list, with the option of a 2 oz. tasting size
to facilitate sampling. The wait staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and
friendly. They'll gladly offer up a wine suggestion to complement your
meal. Troquet is also just a short walk from the Theatre District, making it
an ideal spot for dining after a show.
