Review
Teatro is a hip Italian restaurant right off of Boston Common in the
Theatre District. The atmosphere is loud and boisterous,
particularly during busy times pre- and post- shows. But the
elegantly decorated high ceiling and the long and narrow dining room
create an open and spacious feel despite the hustle and bustle.
Teatro fairly bills its menu as a modern approach to classic Italian
dishes. Accompanying the menu is a nice wine list offering many
high quality bottles in the $30 - $40 range. We attended with a
party of six and were sat promptly at a cozy corner booth. We
started with some shared appetizers - the Teatro Antipasto and the White
Cheese Pizza. Both were excellent - the pizza impressed with a
tasty mix of thin crispy crust and sweet mozzarella cheese. We
also each tried the Arugala Salad, which was topped off by a thinly
sliced parmesan. Moving on to our entrees, we tried the Rigatoni
Bolognese and the Spinach Marscapone Raviolis. Both were very
good. We ended our meal by sharing the Tiramisu, which finished
the meal perfectly. Overall, a highly satisfying meal.
Service was fair - polite and well paced, but lacking warmth. The
price tag was a pretty good deal for an upscale Theatre District
establishment, with entrees ranging from $18 to $30. You can save
even more money by parking across the street in the Boston Common
parking garage for $10 rather than using the $15 valet.
