Review
Harvest in a modern American eatery in Cambridge's Harvard Square.
The dining room pleasantly combines a sleek and fresh architecture with
a natural, earthy decor. The main dining room shows off an open
kitchen in an unobtrusive manner, and is paired with an upscale bar and
one of the nicer outdoor dining patios in Boston. The menu is
limited, but not too outrageous. There is a nice salad and raw bar
selection, along with a choice of about six traditional entrees.
We started with the Summer Salad and the Crab Claws. Both were
delectable - the salad refreshing and the crab was very meaty. We
then opted for the Zucchini Ravioli and the Wolf Neck Farms Sirloin.
Kim found the Ravioli to be stupendous - the sweet and earthy flavoring
of the butternut squash sauce was outstanding. One of the best
meals she had in months. I found the Sirloin to be flavored
excellently, with a juicy and peppery tang, but the meat cut was
entirely too tough, even for a sirloin. However, the Broccoli Rabe
was a delicious accompaniment. For dessert, we tried the Chocolate
Soufflé and the Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sandwich. Both were pretty
good, but nothing to write home about. The service was excellently
paced, polite, and unassuming. The price was very expensive, but
about on par with similar quality establishments. Overall, we surely
will return. If you make it out to Harvest, use the University
Parking Garage on University place - with validation it only cost us six
bucks. -Mike & Kim |
