Review
Eastern Standard is an upscale brasserie located in the Hotel Commonwealth in Kenmore Square. The interior of the expansive dining room is beautiful, with its high ceilings, modern bar, and French bistro-style decor. There is also covered outdoor seating available seasonally. The menu offers up a nice selection of American and French fare. We started with Shrimp Cocktail and a Garden Salad, and then moved on to the Hangar Steak and a Cheeseburger for dinner. Everything was very good to excellent. The cheeseburger, served on a tasty brioche bun, was particularly impressive. Service was very good, especially for a crowded Saturday evening. Prices are somewhat expensive, which is on par for the area. We'd definitely recommend it though, and we are likely to head back soon. Warning though - if you head down to Eastern Standard around the time of a Red Sox home game, expect trouble parking, huge boisterous crowds, and perhaps long waits. -Mike & Kim
