Review
The Bristol is a casual dining lounge serving up gourmet American fare
in a plush, yet relaxed setting. Often the Bristol will be a second
choice for diners who couldn't get a reservation to Aujourd'hui, the
other fine dining establishment located in the Four Seasons. But
the Bristol is by no means second rate. The atmosphere has the
cool feel of a hotel bar coupled with the swankiness of an upscale
restaurant. The menu offers several New England favorites, ranging
from an excellent Clam Chowder to a nice Farm-Raised Vermont Chicken
entree. We started with a Green Salad and the Maine Crab & Shrimp
appetizer. Both were excellent. For our entrees, I selected
the Beef Tenderloin & Lobster Ravioli (surf and turf), and Kim tried
the acclaimed Bristol Sirloin Burger, touted as the best burger in town.
Both the surf and the turf pleased, as the lean and juicy tenderloin
paired nicely with the flavorful and fresh raviolis. Kim found the
burger to be outstanding - maybe not the best burger in town, but
certainly in that ballpark. We completed our meals with the
Viennese dessert buffet - which absolutely should not be missed.
The buffet offered everything from crepes to cake to cookies to
chocolates. Possibly the best dessert spread we have ever seen.
Its expensive, but save room - its worth
the indulgence. Service was impeccable, as our waiter was both
friendly and knowledgeable, and even gave us somewhat of a discount
because our entree was brought out maybe just a couple minutes after it
should have been expected (although we hadn't really even noticed).
The price tag was hefty, but we are talking about the Four Seasons here,
so that shouldn't be a surprise. We used the valet for parking,
but the Boston Common garage isn't a bad option on weekends. Last,
if you're just looking for a dessert fix, you might want to pop in just
to try the dessert buffet, which is served from nine to midnight
on Fridays and Saturdays. -Mike & Kim |
